Biography

With their second album “ The Last broadcast” entering the charts at number 1 , the Doves had a fantastic year in 2002. They were voted number 1 single of the year by NME magazine for “ There goes the Fear” which also charted at Number 5. They were also nominated for the Mercury awards, played a 20 date arena tour supporting Travis and completed a 6 week sold out US tour. As a founding member of the band drummer Andy Williams played Pearl drums on both their US, British and Japanese tours last year. The band are recording the follow-up album the "The Last Broadcast" .

Andy is currently playing a Pearl Masters Premium 4ply set in #163 red sparkle finish, and a combination of Pearl's 2000 series hardware.

What is it you like so much about playing Pearl Drums?

Great sounding shells & hardware well designed & sturdy

Which drummer/band influenced you most into playing drums?

Glem burke(blondie), keith moon (the who), stephen morris (joy div/new order), bands- the velvet underground,the smiths, talk talk, kraftwerk.

Who in your mind are the drummers of tomorrow?

Not really sure, but anyone who plays with heart

What do you like most about being a drummer?

Hiding at the back of stage when things go wrong.

What is the worst thing to happen to you during a show?

Many things, power cuts,slipping on stage,throwing up, once at Glastenbury festival sequencer click track started skipping beats, so me, the rest of band & the sequencer totally out of time with one another..us & the audience did'nt know what the hell was going on!

What do you practice and for how long?

I dont really practice as such!

What is your best advice to a young player wanting to make it in this industry?

Stick to you're guns
