Biography

What is it you like so much about playing Pearl Drums?

Where to start, where to start… The tone, and the feeling you get back when playing. Quality and looks! All the set-up possibilities you get... It’s also a very good feeling knowing that Pearl is one the most serious and established brand of drums who ALWAYS will try to support you best way possible!

Which drummer/band influenced you most into playing drums?

Frank Beard and ZZ-top, Nicko McBrain and Iron Maiden, Ian Paice and Deep Purple, Mike Portnoy and Dream Theater, Nick Mason and Pink Floyd.

Who in your mind are the drummers of tomorrow, who has caught you eye ?

Aaron Spears!

What do you like most about being a drummer?

To constantly have the opportunity to work and geek with rhythms, and also being the battery of each band and constellation. The feeling when you have your good sounding drums out of the PA and to the audience, it’s priceless!

What is the worst thing to happen to you during a show?

To forget something of the song’s form!!!

What do you practice and for how long?

These days, I’m working a lot on poly-rhythms. To have the ability to constantly play groupings of 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. over a 4/4 time signature, and also to play groupings of  5 over a 7/8 time signature, and it never nds… Just to wide my rhythmic vocabulary! The most important thing for a drummer, is his time and groove, and I’m always focused about how things sounds like! I consider myself as a “Chops-guy” who never sees limitations of what fills and chops it is possible to play!

What is your best advice to a young player wanting to make it in this industry?

Be a nice guy! Play with a lot of different people and get experience. Stay focused 24/7, and don’t think the music industry is fair.

If you had the chance to play drums for another artist who would it be?

DREAM THEATER! Don’t know how many dreams I have had to play on Mangini’s Pearl-kit and play my favorite tunes from when I first got my first drum kit in an age of 13!
