Biography

David started his drumming career at the age of 13.  By the age of 15, he was playing in Grade 1; the highest competitive level of Pipe Band Drumming.  David is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, in Glasgow, Scotland and was awarded the BA (Scottish Music) Honours Degree in 2009, specialising in Pipe Band Snare Drumming. 

On the competition scene, David has won every major drumming title possible including the Scottish,
British, European, U.K and World championships as well as the Champion of Champions title on 3 occasions.  Drumming has taken David worldwide, performing in countries such as Mexico, Florida, Japan and all across Europe.  David was also part of the “SOS Allstars” supergroup that performed at the opening of the Live Earth concert at Wembley Arena, London in 2007 alongside Roger Taylor (Queen), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters). 

David is also a sought after Pipe Band Drumming instructor and provides tuition to North Lanarkshire
Schools, The Glasgow Academy, Craigclowan School and The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, as well as being an assessor in Pipe Band Drumming for the Scottish Qualifications Authority.  David is also a percussionist with the world-renowned bagpipe/rock group, "The Red Hot Chilli Pipers", performing at concerts and events all over the UK and abroad.  David is currently Drum Major of the Grade 1 Glasgow Police Pipe Band, based in Glasgow, Scotland, which compete regularly in the upper echelon of the Pipe Band competition scene.
