What is it you like so much about playing Pearl Drums?
Really everything. Pearl Drums sounds awesome, they look awesome and the quality is also the best. The drums leave nothing to be desired. It’s the same with the pedals and hardware and everything else. There is no other company out there, which combines lifestyle, functionality, quality and innovation in such a perfect way like Pearl.

Which drummer/band influenced you most into playing drums?
I started with Ricky Lawson when I was 5 years old. Then many names followed. Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Billy Cobham, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Jojo Mayer, Todd Suchermann, David Garibaldi, Phil Maturano, Ray Luzier… its endless

Who in your mind are the drummers of tomorrow, who has caught you eye ?
I think the drummers from yesterday will be the drummers of tomorrow, too. They will influence the next following generation, as always. But the problem is, that we forget names sometimes. Most of us young guys are interested in playing drums but they are not interested in the deep backround. Which drummer had the biggest influence in that technique or in this way of playing or who invented a lot of these things which I am learning at the moment. There is not so much interest in such questions. Young drummers don’t want to go to the roots.
But there are a few drummers at the moment who're playing drums in a very special way. Benny Greb for example. This is a name we will not forget in the next decades. This special way of playing the drums in his musical way, that’s great! And his positive personality…..

What do you like most about being a drummer?
I have a seat on stage! HAHA! The Music of course. The possibility to see so much cities and countries, hang out with so much great people, the feeling, the opportunity to thrill…
That my son says one day, when he gets ask “Whats your fathers work?”, “My dad is a drummer!” … YEAH! ☺

What is the worst thing to happen to you during a show?
Diarrhea…? No, not me… but I’ve seen such a worst case. It’s a terrible view. Jesus!
What happens to me was a falling tree into me while playing. I was playing a musical. We played in front of the stage in an Orchestra ditch. A very big tree was on the edge of stage. I don’t know why but this tree was visiting me in a very painful way. I have to say after the impact I was still playing. But I was the only one. My meeting with the tree was such a horrible view for the crowd, that  some of the visiting people were very shocked the first moment. Few people thought I musst be half-dead but I was still playing. Hahaha…
After that spectacle there was a little break, everything was fixed again, myself as well and then we finished the show.
After that evening my shoulder was out of order for weeks.

What do you practice and for how long?
I practice a lot. It’s difficult what exactly, because it’s always changing. I’m working on technique, independence, groove, new rhythmic, new ideas, new ways, sound, show… everything… the possibilities are endless. Sometimes I’m pissed that the days are so short and that you can’t learn everything you want in this short live.

What is your best advice to a young player wanting to make it in this industry?
Listen to good music, listen to good drummers, listen to advanced people, listen to them what they say. Be nice to other people, not important if they are from the industry or not. Be on time, always. Be positive. Practice, but know that it’s not all, it’s only one piece of so many more. Contacts are very important. Make a decision and never give up. Be real. Play Pearl ☺

If you had the chance to play drums for another artist who would it be?
I would play the drums for everyone! But if I get the chance to choose, I would choose a combination between a great show, great people and awesome Music. Phil Collins and Michael Jackson were my favorites! Something like Pink, Prince,…. , Tower of Power… I’m a fan of Ray Luzier’s drumming so I love this new Korn things as well or Army of Anyone, it’s great… I love the mainstream things, I love rock, pop, funk, fusion, latin, hip hop ….I would play everywhere!
