Competitor CMSX Snare Drum shells feature 8 ply Mahogany shells crafted by Pearl’s Secure Shell Technology. Mahogany’s excellent response in mid to low registers, fostered by the wood’s loosely packed cellulose structure, quickly established it as a standard in the drum making industry during early twentieth century. Pearl Competitor Mahogany CMSX shells bring reliability and fine craftsmanship to a light, mobile, and affordable high tension drum.
The CMSX Frame supports an aluminum alloy edge ring and Pearl Superhoops, providing you with a winning combination that can support today’s long lasting batter heads without ultra high tension. Pearl’s standard 45 degree bearing edge focuses the drum’s maximum sensitivity and volume.
Pearl’s Superior Shell Technology utilizes a proprietary technique for achieving the ultimate air chamber. It begins with select woods chosen for their unique acoustic attributes, milled to precise thickness with overlapping scarf joint seams, for a perfect air-tight fit. The wood plies are saturated with Pearl’s proprietary “AcoustiGlue” that permeates every pore and dries to the exact consistency of the wood for optimum resonance. Finally, the plies are formed in high-temperature molds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure to produce perfect drum shells that exhibit superior tone, optimal resonance and extreme strength. |
The newly redesigned Competitor Series offers big value at affordable prices. The CMSX snare drum offers many of the features of the FFX Series snares such as a free-floating shell with an aluminum edge ring that relieves all batter head tension from the 8 ply shell. Case hardened tension rods evenly disperse head tension for precise and consistent tuning. The bottom hoop features a built in snare guard for protection. The synthetic gut snares offer dynamic sensitivity and are controlled via the lever-activated strainer. Available in #33 Pure White.
